EXHIBITION: PENETRATE CALLING FOR ARTISTS!!!
This is a group exhibition.
EXHIBITION THEME
In today's ever-connected world, polarization has become a concerning issue, stifling the diversity of thought and hindering the free exchange of ideas. People are getting more and more drawn to echo chambers where they reinforce their own beliefs and shut out alternative viewpoints. Ideas are pushed to extreme ends, passing through the fact that it should be focused on, and leaving no room for nuanced and open-minded discussions. What is the appropriate way to express a controversial opinion? Where is the borderline to express any opinion without censorship or restraintment?
One of the prevailing characteristics of this generation is that people tend to be highly sensitive to ideological and moral values. They also feel a growing pressure to conform to the prevailing public opinions. This creates an atmosphere where individuals feel compelled to align themselves with a particular ideology, even if it doesn’t fully reflect their own personal convictions and people start to give up their genuine thoughts and beliefs.

Exhibizone proudly presents Nuditas 2023.
Nuditas, the Latin word for nudity and nakedness, has been a part of the art world from prehistory to the modern cultures.

For centuries, artists have put their vision and skill to work for the betterment of society in an effort to effect change and expand our understanding of complex issues. Information based solely on data can often leave people feeling overwhelmed, disempowered, disconnected, and sometimes hopeless in the face of daunting odds. Art has the incredible power to compel thought, elicit feelings, and inspire discourse, which in turn, can motivate engagement and galvanize action; why we make, what we make, and how we make work matters and makes a difference in the world.
For this national juried exhibition, we are looking for works that foster awareness and caring for the environment, advocate for climate action, seek climate justice, or inspire sustainability. As the earth continues to warm, the hazards we face increase; weather extremes, food and water insecurities, pandemics, even allergy season is lengthened and intensified. Collective action is needed. How can art make a difference with such a monumental undertaking? Art doesn’t show people what to do but it can make one feel and inspire one to think more deeply. These thoughts and feelings can motivate people to become more engaged and take action. Every action, no matter how small, has a cumulative effect when many people engage.
Submissions are not limited to work that deals only topically with climate change but work created in studio practices that work in harmony with the environment will also be considered. Please submit up to three pieces completed within the past five years and a short statement about the work and/or process for consideration. All media considered, including book arts, ceramics, drawing, fiber, glass, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, wood, mixed media, video, and installations. If a piece contains an electronic component, the artist must indicate if they can provide the necessary technological equipment for installation. Accepted work must be available to be on display for the duration of the exhibition. Artist must be at least 18 years of age.

When you picture these plants and fruits, do you also see the love and labor of people? Do you see cooking and artful display of food? Family dinner? A baby enjoying the textures of playing with their food? The theme of Harvest is broad and subject to your interpretation.

The Public Art Commission of Salida (PAC) in tandem with the City of Salida invites artists to apply for a call of a visual art piece in a pre-determined outdoor space in late-Fall 2023. The PAC is looking for a 3-D outdoor sculpture/work/installation that is contemporary and can be viewable from a distance. The selected artist’s or artist-lead team’s work will be installed in an outdoor location near a multi-use trail at an entrance to the downtown business sector and the Creative Arts District adjacent to an urban skate park and downtown section of Highway 291.
The enhancement of this public place by integrating the creative work of artists improves the pedestrian experience and acts as a “gateway” into the heart of Salida. Ideally, the considered concept should be considered a “landmark” that can be associated with Salida, one that will draw attention and encourage engagement. Artists/artist teams will be selected based on artistic excellence and demonstration of skill and quality craftsmanship conveyed in examples of past work, resume, and the strength and originality of concept.
